If you are passionate about yoga and would like to share your love of yoga with others, you may wish to undertake hatha yoga teacher training. The Yoga Space Level 1 Hatha Yoga Teacher training course is a comprehensive 12 – 24 month training course taught by experienced yoga teachers and university lecturers. Through more than 650 hours of practice, teaching assistance and observation this training will ground your personal yoga practice in the philosophical underpinnings of yoga. This will allow you to share the gift of yoga with joy, confidence and a greater understanding of the deeper dimensions of yoga practice. Throughout the course you will learn how to teach, pre & post natal yoga, kids yoga, beginners yoga, general classes and even chair yoga for seniors. With ample hours of teaching practicums during your course you will graduate confident and inspired, ready to teach your own classes.
The course content exceeds the requirements set down by the Yoga Teachers Association of Australia for Level One membership and upon graduation students will be recognised as Level 1 members of the organisation in order to gain insurance and be part of a professional community. The course has flexible learning options for remote students (who can visit Perth for workshops) and is suitable for practitioners from all yoga traditions. Entrance into the course is by interview (for non-Yoga Space students). The course also meets all of the requirements for 200 hour registration with Yoga Alliance.

Curriculum Covered

- Yoga Philosophy, Ethics & Lifestyle: Study of the sacred and Yoga educational texts. Ethics for Teachers. Yoga as a living practice. Yoga & Buddhist Philosophy.
- Anatomy & Physiology: Study of the anatomy & functional physiology of bodily systems.
- Yogic Physiology: Study of subtle yogic physiology and energy fields, such as: Nadis, Koshas, Chakras, Gunas etc.
- Techniques: Study and practice of Yoga techniques such as: Asanas, Pranayama, Kriyas, Relaxation, Meditation, Chanting, etc.
- Teaching Methods: Study and practice of teaching methodologies such as: Principles of demonstration, communication, assistance, correction, adjustments, instruction, teaching styles, student learning styles, etc.
- Integrative Practice & Teaching: Observation, assistance in classes taught by qualified teacher, supervised teaching practice, teaching classes & courses

Course Delivery:
The course content will be delivered from April - December of each training year. The course is delivered
through ongoing classes/courses and weekend workshops. The course will run between 12 months and 2 years
depending upon your progress, the period of mentoring you need, how long you have been practicing yoga for
and the time you have to commit to your assignments and teaching observation and practicums.
The Weekend
workshops commence in Autumn. Trainees may commence observation and assignments upon acceptance into
the course. Students who commence the course earlier will graduate earlier. This is to
allow a degree of flexibility for those with work and family commitments.
